How does the dyslexia assessment process work?
We begin with an initial telephone consultation to understand the child’s history, concerns and any prior assessments
Send questionnaires to both home and school
Administer a standardised battery of tests (reading, spelling, phonological awareness, working memory, processing speed, etc.)
Analyse results, write a diagnostic report with recommendations and strategies
Provide feedback to school / parents, and help implement or recommend accommodations (e.g., exam access arrangements)
Can you help with EHCPs or applications for school-based support?
Yes. Our support includes:
Reviewing existing EHCP drafts or plans
Checking legal compliance of the EHCP (making sure all needs are captured and matched with appropriate provisions)
Advice and representation at EHCP meetings / appeals
Guidance on school-based support and strategies without necessarily having an EHCP
What does a school observation / consultancy visit involve?
A visit to observe classroom practice, inclusion and SEND provision
Meetings with teachers, TAs and leadership (if required) to understand strengths and challenges
Review of SEND policies, registers and data
A written report with actionable recommendations, priority areas and an implementation plan
How long do your holiday / exam‑prep courses run?
Courses can be tailored to suit the group but typically run for 3 - 4 days depending on the content (ISEB, 11+)
Sessions combine small-group instruction, exam techniques and targeted practice
Timetable and structure are tailored to the needs and levels of participating students
There will not be more than 4 children in a group to maintain an individualised approach
What is your approach to in‑school tutoring?
We work in collaboration with school staff to align tutoring with the curriculum and the child’s needs
Sessions are tailored and evidence-based
Progress is monitored regularly and session plans are adapted in response to student progress
Meetings with form teachers can be arranged if required
How soon can we start once we’ve signed up?
That depends on current caseload and scheduling but we aim to begin within 2 weeks
For assessments or consultations, availability may vary, so early booking is recommended
How much do your services cost?
Fees vary depending on the service (e.g., assessment, consultancy visit, training, tutoring)
After an initial conversation about your needs, I’ll send you a detailed quote
Some schools or local authorities may cover (or partially cover) consultancy or training fees
Do you work remotely or only in person?
Many services can be offered remotely (consultancy, training, review, follow-up)
In-person work is required for assessments, observations and in‑school tutoring
A hybrid model is possible where parts of the work are remote and parts are in-school
